In this unit, students participate in an engineering and design challenge. This will use Next Generation Science Standards to guide the process and introduce basic Conflict Resolution Education (CRE) concepts of emotional literacy to anchor the problem. Students will work in teams to create their own test protocol to help others discover their emotional profiles, based on sensory response to various stimuli.
At the end of the unit, the class will collectively debrief and analyze insights into CRE concepts of how all people have unique profiles of emotional responses. A goal for this unit is for students to realize the importance of understanding others to grow social emotional skills of empathy.
