Social Studies Unit #1
Restorative Justice Introduction
This unit provides an overview to Restorative Justice, which is the major theme addressed throughout the 8th grade curriculum. Students learn to apply restorative concepts by analyzing primary source historical text such as The Declaration of Independence. Students use their own written expression (poem, spoken word, rap, music video, or song lyrics) to convey a social justice issue that is important to them. They will examine the potential of Restorative Justice to bring more positive outcomes to the issue.
