The purpose of the activities for physical education are to reinforce concepts of basic conflict resolution. Application of these principles will grow self-awareness and responsibility. This unit is designed to provide resources and strategies to set group norms for productive conflict resolution. The activities include icebreakers as well as lessons, which focus on communication skills, mediation, and restorative practices. Specific content addresses the definition of good sportsmanship and a guided dialogue process based on the social justice call for reconciliation as framed in the “Take a Knee” campaign of professional athletes.
